  • TKAM: Tom's Testimony
  • Tom why don't you go on and explain your encounters with Miss Mayella.
  • Well suh, I use to help her out when she asked because I felt sympathy for her having to do everything and take care of the kids. On Nov. 21 she invited me in to fix something and then through herself on me.
  • Did you rape her, Tom? Did you resist?
  • No suh, I didn't rape her. Suh, I tried to resist but I couldn't get to violent. Then her father came calling thro the window "You whore, I'll kill you!" to her and I ran.
  • You had no interest in Miss Mayella? Why would you run if you if you weren't guilty? Doesn't that mean you had something to hide?
  • I had no interest in her suh, just sympathy. You see suh, I wanted to avoid a trial. Suh, you don't understand what it's like for us.
  • Please sit down Mr. Link Deas!
  • That boy's worked for me for 8 years and hasn't caused a speck of trouble!
  • Scout go take Dill outside!
  • I don't understand how they could treat Tom so differently and not be respective like Mr. Finch, just because of his race. It sickening to me, seriously Scout how could you not notice.
  • Well, he's just a negro.
  • I understand how you feel boy.
  • This was Mr. Raymond he preferred to live with colored people and had a mixed race family becuse he loved all people.
