  • Cause (Ionion Revolt) 499 B.C
  • THE PERSIANS ARE HERE TO TAKE OUR SETTLEMENTS. 
  • Battle of Marathon 490 B.C
  • Battle of Thermopylae 480 B.C.
  • The Persians went into Ionion settlement and took it which marked the beginning of the Persian wars.
  • Battle of Salamis 480 B.C.
  •  King Darius decided to conquer city-states of Mainland Greece. Then he sent a huge army to Marathon. A general named Miltiades convince greek commanders to fight the Persians. Soldiers ran for their ships.The Greeks Won.
  •  Battle of Plataea 479 B.C
  • The Persians invaded Greece. Leonidas tried to stop the Persian army but couldn’t so he sent only 6,000 to 7,000 soldiers to stop 180,00 Persian Soldiers since he didn’t have a lot of soldiers. 
  • Effects(End of Persian wars) 449 B.C
  • Athenians boarded ships and sailed to nearby islands. There was only one small army to defend the city. He wanted to fight their navy and the Persians would find it hard to move their ships around to attack the Greek army.Greeks Won
  • Xerxes (Persian Empire Leader) ordered for his army to attack Greece again in Spring.  Spring arrived and they attacked Athens. The Persians lost and the threat from the Persian Empire was finally over.Greek Victory
  • After the battle of Plataea the Greek City-States had to rebuild.  The trade off would be that the threat of the Persians would be over, but they would have to rebuild the destroyed places.
