Hello, kids! Today, we're going to learn how to multiply and divide fractions!
For multiplication, you can multiply the numerators with the numerators and denominators with denominators. For example, in 1/3 times 3/7, 1 times 3 equals 3, and 3 times 7 equals 21. The answer is 3/21, or 1/7! You can also use models.
1/3 times 3/7= 3/21, or 1/7
When you divide fractions, you need to multiply as well! Take this for example- 1/3 divided by 5/6. You need to find the reciprocal of of 5/6. In other words, turn it upside down! (6/5.) Multiply 1/3 and 6/5-there's the answer to your original problem! (6/15.) I hope you learned something new today!
1/3 times 6/5= 6/15
