Oh boy do I love Manetite. Its my favorite Iron Oxide
It has a mohs hardness of 5 through 6.5. It also has isometric crystalization and is black / opaque
Magnetite is a mineral with fracture, and is a lot harder than Talc and is metallic to submetallic
It is also magnetic
But why is it magnetic?
Because it is one of the main sources of iron ore. Becaus eof this it is magnetic, and is commonly used in magnets.
Some of the few minerals harder than magnetite include quartz and diamond. Magnetite is also used in labrotories for research.
