Storyboard Text

  • I am just thinking where did salt come from.
  • What's wrong?
  • I know! It came from the mineral halite!
  • That's interesting.
  • Well. It came from a group of minerals called halides.
  • Tell me more please.
  • This mineral has good cleavage and a glassy look to it.
  • okay.
  • It also has a hardness of 2.5.
  • I can tell you are getting bored but did you know that besides white and colorless it can also be yellow, red, purple, and blue?
  • So then what do we use it for?
  • Well we use this cubic mineral for seasoning, preparing roads for snow and ice, and getting essential nutrients.
  • I have seen salt around everywhere. I have seen it in my food and in this salt shaker.
  • This fascinating mineral occurs as evaporate deposits.
  • What's that?
  • That means that when water is evaporating with a mineral in it and it precipitates it forms sedimentary rocks.
