King Louis IX
In 987, nobels elected Hugh Capet as the king of France most likely because he was too weak to pose a threat to them. Hugh Capet/ The Capetians created a effected government official taxes that imposed royal law over the king domains.
In 1165, French Philip Augustus. Phillip was a man who ate and drank too much. But Phillip was smart and a able ruler, he strengthened royal government in many ways. Instead of hiring nobles to fill government positions, he used paid middle class officials who would ow their loyalty t him.
Louis IX is prephaps the most admire French ruler of the time. Louis IX took the throne in 1226, embodied the idea of the perfect medieval monarch generous, noble, and devoted to justice and chivalry.
Saint Louis was a deeply religious man, he pursued religious goals that were acceptable to Christians in his day in his day. He attacked people who didn't agree with christianity and jews led thousands of french knights in two wars against muslims.
