  • Abel Streight set out from Nashville, under orders from General William Rosecrans to target railroads and other Confederate supply lines.
  •                                 Vicksburg                          May 18-July 4, 1863
  • Confederates abandoned Prairie D’Ane, the federalists held a council of war, Steele found a town with little supplies and abandoned his mission.
  •                                      Falling Waters                                                 July 13-16, 1863
  • General Joseph Reynolds drove into Confederate pickets with soldiers and opened fire with his artillery. Both sides then lied about casualties and exaggerated about hundreds of deaths.
  • Elkin's Ferry April 3-4, 1864
  • General Ulysses S. Grant’s army converged on Vicksburg on the Mississippi River, where they trapped a Confederate army under John Pemberton.
