  • I'm the pope, i have more power now.
  • Umm, no you don't were all the same!
  • Yes we will worship them.
  • No more icons.
  • See ya, we're the Catholic Church now.
  • Bye bye we're the Eastern Orthodox Church now
  • The bishop of Rome made himself the pope because the prophet peter came to Rome first. But the other patriarchs (head of the main Christian communities) did not except that argument.
  • What's he saying?
  • What is he saying?
  • The Christians argued over the use of icons (holy images) in their homes and churches. The Byzantine emperors (east) tried to stop icon worship, while the pope (west) wanted to.
  • No this is not catholic faith.
  • "Believe in this!"
  • 354 years later the church split into the Eastern Orthodox Church. Orthodox means following tradition or established beliefs. This event is known as the great schism.
  • We will remain separate forever!
  • There were other differences between the two churches such as: Their languages were different. (Catholic was Latin) (Eastern Orthodox Greek). 
  • The Eastern church is moving further away from catholic faith.
  • Finally the "Great Schism" went through and the two churches split, and still today the churches remain apart from each other.
