Marsha Sharp was born on August 31, 1952 in Whidbey Island, Washington.
Marsha Sharp was the Lady Raiders basketball coach from 1982-2006. She attended high school in Tulia,Texas. She graduated in 1974 from Wayland Baptist University. Afterwards, she got her masters at West Texas A&M.
Who was Marsha?
Marsha decided to become a coach when one of her coaches told her she was to short to play college basketball. After that, she interviewed to become a Lady Raiders Coach. She got the job, of course.
Marsha Sharp led The Lady Raiders to many victories. One of the many things she accomplished was winning Tech's first NCAA championship. The best team she coached was led by Sheryl Swoopes, from 1992-1993.
Besides winning championships, Marsha Sharp has made a big difference. She didn't just coach her students how to play basketball, she taught them character too. She has donated to many fundraisers. She and her sister set up the first Susan G. Komen in Lubbock.
