In 1990 another plant was introduced, it is called the water hyacinth. This plant came through rivers and traveled into the Lake. This plant grows very quickly. By 1997 this plant covered 90% of the lake shore. All of the lakes fish breed along the shore line, because of the plant it made it hard for the fish to breed.
The water hyacinth removes oxygen and removes light from the water Also the plant grows so thick fishing boats cant get through it. Next, the plant clogs big pipes, these pipes went to a water source. Finally the animals that like snakes, snails, and mosquitoes spread a disease such as malaria.
So that's the story about the history of lake Victoria. There is no way of fixing Lake Victoria's ecological problems without spending thousands of dollars. The conditions that Lake Victoria is in are very hard to repair. Fortunately, there are some cichlids still left in aquariums so people can see.
