  • Shark-spiders 
  • "A dress all-over lace and ribbons, two years younger and we're supposed to entertain her!" This shows that the twins don't want to entertain Laura they want to carry on with what they were doing. 
  • hemlock
  • "Those spotty mushrooms are very poisons" said Laura "I knew a man who died from just 1 mouthful" then Laura told the twins a story about a man  who died from eating a mouthful of the mushrooms just to trick them and then after that she asked to see the boys tree-house but the refused immediately.  
  • Hemlock sand-witches
  • "I can't put my hand in that hutch! it's probably riddled with shark-spiders" said Laura, Laura told the twins a story about how she knew a man who died from get-ten bitten,but she said that shark-spiders don't like height's and they would be fine in the tree-house   "there's no such thing as shark spider's and your not coming up into our tree-house yelled jasper
  • "what a lovely,lovely pond! it seems a shame, though, that your mother lets all that hemlock grow so close to the water..." said Laura "It's watercress" snapped jasper but Laura said that hemlock looks exactly like watercress and that she knew a boy who ate a hemlock sand-witch but thought it was watercress and his toes and fingers fell off and he exploded.
  • "well I was at the Lilly-pond I made these deer little sand-witches for the boys Jasper unwillingly took a sandwich raised it to his mouth then put it on the plate untasted Rodrick took a step away from the table "phaphas there not very hungry fron there', said Laura "I know what perphaps they'd rather show me their treehouse instead".
