Hello, today i'm going to be explaining how to solve two step equations.
First we will start with a simple equation, say 5x-2=13
The first step is to get the variable by its self, like so... if you have" 5x-2=13 " your gonna put a positive two underneath the negative two. this will cause the to cancel out, meaning you will take the two away completely.
next you will put a positive two under the 13. You will then add the two numbers together.Once you get the sum putt it underneath the two numbers, then drop the '5x down along with the equal sign.
Your equation should look like this, 5x-2=13 +2 +2 5x = 15 Now that your equation is set up right, i'm going to show you how to solve for the answer.
Now the final step is to dived the number next to the variable by itself, this way it cancels out. Then you dived by five on the other side too. Your equation should look like this, 5x-2=13 +2 +2 5x=15 5 5 x=3 the answer is "x=3"
