Storyboard Text

  •
  • The French beheaded their king and queen and destroyed the Bastille prison.
  •
  •
  • Washington said that the United States should stay neutral and he created the Neutrality Proclamation.
  • ------ -------- --------
  • We MUST stay neutral. We should make the Neutrality Proclamation.
  • The duty and interest of the United states require that they should with sincerity and good faith adopt and pursue a conduct friendly and impartial towards the belligerent powers.
  • Edmond Genet wanted to use privateers for the war but Washington said that it violated the Neutrality Proclamation
  • I like this idea
  • This violates neutrality so you can't do that
  • After that, Britain and France went to war.
  • Jay's Treaty made conflict with U.S. and Britain stop but there were many problems with it.
  • There were some problems though. Congress criticized him and his ideas and James Madison said that he went to far on being the leader and asked him why he made the proclamation without congress approval.
  • But when Pinckney's Treaty was signed, the story was very much different to what happened to Jay's Treaty
  • SURRENDER!
  • In 1793, Thomas Jefferson resigned from Washington's cabinet
  • Native Americans didn't like that Americans kept taking their land and with supplies from Britain, they started a war.
  • Ok Ok! you win
  • People started to protest because they thought it didn't punish Britain enough and it also affected trade a lot.
  • BOOOOOO!!!
  • WORST TREATY EVER!!!
  • Pinkney's treaty settled trading issues with Spain and opened up some parts of New Orleans to Americans. Most American people thought this was a good Treaty.
  • This Treaty ROCKS!!!
  • This is WAY better than Jay's
  • The Native Americans (led by Little Turtle) defeated many American troops and when General Wayne took command, there was no use of his soldiers because most of his soldiers were sick with diseases.
