During the American Revolution, some women converted their houses into hospitals, where they tended to diseased or injured soldiers.

When their husbands left to fight in the war, many women took on their spouses´ occupations. In this example, Esther hammers a knife into shape.
Some women aided the male soldiers on the front. A few even took up arms and fought! One such woman, Deborah Sampson, eliminated a group of pillaging Native Americans.
