Abigail Williams was discovered in the woods dancing with other girls, including her cousin Betty Parris. The girls are found by Betty's father, Reverand Parris and upon being found, Betty falls into a coma like state.
Betty continued to stay in her coma state. Rumours had started around Salem that the girls were involved in witchcraft. Reverand Parris questions Abigail but she denies.
Reverand Parris summons Reverand Hale who is an expert in witchcraft. The girls are then questioned and they surrender that they were performing witchcraft but that they were working for the devil but that they want to atone. They are then asked to give up names of other people under the power of Lucifer.
Reverend Hale visits John and Elizabeth Proctor to question them as to whether they are good Christians. He also informs them about the court sessions in Salem and that Elizabeth's name has been mentioned by Abigail.
Reverand Hale then spots a doll and finds that it has a needle in it's stomach. Previously, Abigail was found in pain with a needle in her stomach. Elizabeth is then questioned but it is revealed that Mary Warren-their maid-had made it and that Abigail was next to her when she made it.
Elizabeth is then taken away to be judged by the other Reverends. John promises that he will take Mary Warren to court to give a statement so that Elizabeth will be set free and Abigail will be imprisoned.
