  • Why does the moon rotate around the earth instead of flying off to space?
  • Why did the apple fall from the tree? I wonder if it is the same kind of force as the one keeping the moon in orbit.
  • I will call this force gravity. 
  • The apple had less mass and is closer to the earth than the moon and so the apple fell to the ground, while the moon stays orbiting the earth.
  • The strength of gravity is dependent of the masses of the objects and the distance between them like the apple and the earth or the moon and the earth.
  • F = G*((m - 1*m - 2)/r^2)
  • The moon in trapped in its orbit around earth because the moon and the earth tug at each other and at a certain point in space, the tugs cancel each other out, which results in the moon´s orbit around earth.
  • F = G*((m - 1*m - 2)/r^2)
