The Man eating birds arose from the waters of lake Stymphalus.
They attacked the crops and destroyed plants like locusts.
To complete the task Hercules needed some help from the goddess Athena. She gave him a brass rattle to assault the birds. He bravely accepted the rattle and proceeded to his challenge.
Hercules defeated the birds confidently with the brass rattle and his poisoned arrows.
