In the exposition, Madame Loisel was sad because she did not have a nice dress or an jewels.
In the rising action, Madame Loisel convinces her husband to spend 400 francs on a dress and she borrows a diamond necklace from her friend.
In the climax, Madame Loisel loses the diamond necklace.
In the falling action, Madame Loisel and her husband have to work to pay them back for the necklace.
In the resolution, Madame Loisel sees her friend a few years later and tells her about the incident. She then finds out that the necklace she lost was a fake and not worth that much money.
