Storyboard Text

  • Harry Truman, Josef Stalin, and Winston Churchill are agreeing to split Germany into four zones of occupation.
  • We were given West Germany
  • I was given East Germany.
  • Berlin is clearly located in the in the eastern part of Germany, so it rightfully belongs to the Soviet Union!
  • Then came the discussion about Berlin.
  • But Berlin is Germany's capital, so we must equally split Berlin!
  • Stalin blocked all railroads, highways, and canals believing that the U.S. would eventually surrender.
  • They want West Berlin. Well let's see if their people can get any food or supplies!
  • Allies did not want to surrender Berlin because it will increase the risks of further spreading communism.
  • HA! They think this will chase us away from Berlin. We will never surrender Berlin especially to Soviet Union!
  • The Allies sent supplies to West Berlin from cargo planes.
  • Do not worry West Berlin! We are coming to your rescue!
  • In the end, Soviet's blockade of West Berlin did not persuade the West to abandon Berlin. Because it was obvious that the West was not going to leave West Berlin in the hands of Soviet Union, eventually, Stalin lifted the blockade and reopened roads.
  • Oh NO! My plan has failed!
