Señor Davenport went with a endocrinologist. Doctor Lupita told Señor Davenport that he has Type 2 diabetes and that he'll have to inject insulin because he doesn't produce enough insulin to maintain a normal glucose level. Señor Davenport was lucky to go with an endocrinolodist because he was able to detect what he had quickly.
Señor Davenport has to change his eating habits. For example for breakfast he will eat a smothie, for lunch he'll eat spinach and tomato pasta, and for dinner he will eat fish.
Señor davenport is using a lancet to prick his finger. He is putting a blood test strip into a small machine called a glucometer. It tells you how much sugar is in your blood.
A Certified Diabetic Educator has been helping Señor Davenport manage his condition. She has been telling him that the importance of monitoring his blood sugar levels is that it helps him avoid low blood sugar and high blood sugar.
Señor Davenport is doing exercise to control his blood glucose level. The doctor explained to him that his muscles get the glucose they need and in turn his blood glucose level goes down.
Señor Davenport has been going with a nutritionist. The nutritionist has been helping him have a better diet. Señor Davenport now understands what he has to do to have a better life as a diabetic.
