Storyboard Description

Yeh-Shen was raised by her stepmother. She had a pet fish. Yeh-Shen's stepmother pretended to be her and went to the river and caught the fish and cooked it for dinner. Yeh-Shen met an old man at the river that told her the fishes bones has special powers. Yeh-Shen asked the fishes bones for food and water and a dress to go to the festival. The fish bones granted her wish only if she promised not to lose the special fish scale shoes. Yeh-Shen lost a shoe on her way home. The fish bones did not talk to her anymore. The king had her followed after she returned for the shoe. Ye-Shen's foot fit in the shoe and they got married.

  • Yeh-Shen is raised by her stepmother.
  • Yeh-Shen's best friend is a fish.
  • Yeh-Shen's stepmother pretends to be Yeh-Shen, catches the fish and  cooks it for dinner.
  • I'm going to cook this fish!
  • Yeh-Shen is with her stepmother in her room.
  • Yeh-Shen talks to the fish bones and asks for a dress for the fall festival.
  • Yeh-Shen is visiting her best friend at the pond. 
  • Yeh-Shen loses a shoe on her way home from the festival.
  • Yeh-Shen's stepmother tricked the fish into thinking it was Yeh-Shen so she could catch it and cook it for dinner.
  • The king has Yeh-Shen followed when she comes back to get the shoe.  Yeh-Shen becomes queen. 
  • After talking to an old man at the pond Ye-Shen found out the fish had special powers.  All she had to do was talk to the bones.  She asked for food and water and clothes for the festival.
  • The fish told Yeh-Shen as long as she had the special fish scale shoes she would remail being able to talk to the fish.  Yeh-Shen lost a shoe when she left the  festival.
  • Yeh-Shen was followed by the king's guards when she went to get the lost shoe.  They followed her home and reported back to the king.  The king went to Yeh-Shenand they were married.
