  • Hero in His Ordinary World
  • The Call to Adventure
  • Refusing the Call to Adventure
  • This is Perseus the son of Danae and grandson of King Acrisius. The reasoning behind him being here on this island is because he is destined to kill his grandfather. He was cast away on this island in a box with his mother destined to die but then survived in an attempt by his grandfather to not be killed.
  • Meeting the Mentor
  • This is where Polydectes sent Perseus on an adventure to slay one of the three Gorgons. He wanted to test Perseus' strength and determination for his mother.  Perseus agreed, knowing he had to save Danae from Polydectes' wrath.
  • Crossing the Threshold
  • Perseus knew that this journey was far too dangerous for one man. Doubt began to creep into his mind. He wasn't sure if he would survive.
  • Test, Allies, and Enemies
  • Athena and Hermes heard about Perseus and his quest . They wanted to help the mortal succeed. Athena gave him a shield of brass to use as a mirror for Medusa, and Hermes became his guide.
  • Perseus came across the Gray Women, fates who only shared one eye among them. After they refused to show him the way to the Nymphs  Hermes came up with a plan. Perseus stole their eye and forced the information out of them.
  • Perseus met the Nymphs of the North, who rewarded him with three gifts for his journey. A magic wallet, winged sandals, and the cap of invisibility. Perseus could now slay Medusa swiftly, easily, and unseen.
