- James is watching all of his friends show off their skills. his is discouraged and he doesn't think that he will make the team. He doesn't stop trying until the end.

- James, just because you failed, doesn't mean you should give up.
- James is very sad. He tried so hard but it didn't work out in the end. He really wanted to play on the team with his friends. He was looking forward to playing on the team.

- James can't stop thinking about not making the team. He feels like he should quit basketball and not even try to make the team next year. He doesn't believe in himself and he wants to quit.

- Congratulations James, you made the basketball team.
- James's dad tells him to sit right next to him. His dad talks about how he shouldn't give up. he talks about how he should keep practicing so he can make the team next year.
- James does what his dad says. He goes to the gym everyday to practice and improve his skills. now he is determined to make the team next year. This time he is not giving up.
- At this tryouts James tries his hardest. His hard work played of and he made the basketball team. He is very happy because he is on the team with all of his friends. James learned that he should never give up.
