Storyboard Text

  • Hello, I am a Kayapo.
  • Hello, I am a rancher.
  • Why are you cutting down my home so you can have space for your ranch?
  • I am cutting down the trees because ranching is more important than a forest.
  • That is not true. The Amazon Rainforest produces about 20% of Earth's oxygen. It is also the most diverse rainforest in the world because it is home to many different species of plants and animals.
  • It isn't just ranchers that are deforesting the Amazon Basin. Loggers have also cleared large areas of it. In 1992, rainforests covered 12% of the Earth's surface and now they only cover 5%. People are also starting to operate illegal sawmills and other things in the Amazon and clearing more area.
  • Really? I didn't know that.
  • Thank you.
  • I'm sorry that I cut down part of the rainforest for my ranch. I will stop spreading it and go somewhere else.
