Ties with Great Britain
Upper-Class men with power
The Federalists, led by Alexander Hamilton saw that a strong central government was the key.
The Federalist wanted to have trade and alliance with Great Britain, however many did not agree since they had just went to war.
Allies with France
The Federalists thought that only the Upper Class should elect their government or should hold power in the government themselves.
Common men with power
The Jeffersonians, led by Thomas Jefferson believed in local or state governments.
The Jeffersonians wanted to have an alliance with France, the problem was that the French were at war with Britain.
The Jeffersonians believed the common man such as a farmer should have the power to choose or elect their government.
