  • The cause of the Battle of Somme was to relieve the French Army fighting at Verdun and to weaken the German army                                                       1916
  • By Nicole Schlesinger 
  • Britian confronted Germans at the river of Somme, on July 1, 1916 an attack was planned by Douglas Haig and Henry Rawlinson
  • Lets confront the Germans at the River of Somme, on July 1
  • British soldiers attacked a German trench line, this day is known as the worst day in history for the British Army. 
  • LETS FIGHT!
  • Allied forces fired shells towards the Germans for a week straight. Germans hid in dugouts and waited underground for a week.
  • The Germans came out from being underground and fired machine guns at the allied troops.
  • German Area
  • British and French troops only made a small advance into the German area. Germany started to defend faster than the Allied powers could attack.
  • Shoot them down!!
