  • Why did the Chief Elder skip me? Did I do something wrong? I hope she made a mistake.
  • I know that you are all concerned. That you feel I have made a mistake. I have caused you anxiety. I apologize to my community. Jonas please come to the stage now.
  • Jonas has not been assigned. He has been selected to be our next Receiver of Memory.
  • Our present Receiver of Memory believes Jonas has the capacity to see beyond.
  • Jonas did not receive an assignment as was skipped by the Chief Elder. He is nervous and confused as to what is exactly happening. Various thoughts and question swim through Jonas' mind.
  • I do?
  • The Chief Elder acknowledges what is believed to be a mistake. She sincerely apologizes to her community for making it seem that Jonas has been forgotten.
  • Jonas has been selected to be the Receiver of  Memory, the most honorable position in the community. He doesn't understand what his position is and exactly why he has been chosen.
  • Jonas! Jonas! JONAS!
  • The Chief Elder goes through reasons why Jonas has been chosen. He holds traits such as intelligence, integrity, courage. Jonas has also been selected for his potential of wisdom and for the  possible ability to "see beyond."
  • Jonas sees people in the audience "change." He now understands what the capacity to see beyond means.
