Here is a population of mice in the winter. The mice start with one type of allele(100%)
As a mutation occurred in the mice population there is now a light mice.
As a wolf appears it easily spots the light mice, it spots this mutated mice because given variation.
As the environment changes the mutated mice now better fitted and camouflaged into the environment.
The original allele mice are now visible to predators such as this wolf because of variation.
The mutated mice are now surviving in the the population of the original allele mice.
