Storyboard Text

  • Act 1 Scene 3-Young Vs. Old
  • These quotes show the theme of young vs. old. Juliet’s mother is telling her that she should be married by now. Juliet believes it is too early to be thinking of such an honor, and that she is too young. Lady Capulet thinks the opposite, as some girls in Verona younger than Juliet are already mothers. She also thinks Paris is the one for Juliet, while he is several years older than her. This shows the theme of young vs old because there is a continuous battle of preferences to or not to marry so young. Juliet is against getting married so young, while everyone around her thinks it’s time. She doesn’t want to marry someone so old, even though it was a very common and expected thing to marry much older.
  • How stands your disposition to be married?
  • It is an honor that I dream not of
  • The Power of Love
  •
  • explanation 1
  • explanation 2
  • In this quote, Juliet is saying that a name is just a name, if anyone else had the same name it would be of the same meaning. This quote shows the power of love. This is because the Montague vs. Capulet fight has been going on for ages, and Juliet must really love Romeo in order to say that the Montague name didn't matter.
