Submarines are warships with a streamlined hull designed to operate completely submerged in the see, for long amounts of times, equipped with an internal store of air and a periscope and typically armed with torpedoes or missiles. They were built in Duchland.
Submarines were used during the war, these are special types of watercrafs that can be operated under water. These are typicaly large vessels. They are used by the millitary as part of navy forces, protecting aircraft carries, performing reconnaissance and carrying out the tasks. Submarines became well known around 1914-1918's.
We need to know this, and remember this because these submarines helped us durring the war, and they played an important roll in the Civil War. This impacted our nation's history because it helped by becoming the first combactsubmarines to sink an enemy warship, it altered naval warfare forever.
A submarine called the Hunley was confederate states of America. She was the first combat submarine to sink at warship.
This invention helpped our nation, by having better weapons, and these submarines made it easier for you to sneak up on other people during the war. That improved how soldiers could fight better during the war.
The Hunley, nearly 40 feet long, was built at Mobil, Alabama, and launched in July 1863. She sank during the test run, on August 29,1863.
