Storyboard Text

  • Why the moon didn't fly off into space even though it was in motion? Newton wondered what kept the moon in orbit.  Then he saw an apple falling from a tree and wondered if the same force was tugging onto the moon.
  • If a force can make an apple fall from a tree then that same force holds the moon from flying out into space.
  • Newton experimented with a formula. F=Gm1m2/r^2 or g=GM/r^2
  • Newton recoreded and collected his data by writing a book called the Principia  in 1687 which presented the law of gravity.
  • Newton established the three laws of motion to see if his hypothesis is correct.
  • Newtons discoveries changed the world today because now scientists and people know about gravity and how it works
