  • When Ebeneezer Scrooge is born, his mother dies in childbirth. He would have been a normal child, but he ends up getting shunned by his father. His father believes it is Scrooge's fault. His father sends him away to a boys school, where Scrooge becomes an outcast. Eventually, his sister is able to convince their father to let Scrooge come home, but a lasting mark is left on Scrooge.

  • I can't escape this fate, but you still have a chance to save yourself.

  • It's too painful!
  • When giving birth to Fred, Fan (Scrooge's Sister) dies. Because of this, Scrooge shuns his nephew just like how his father shunned him.   This shows that even though he knows it hurts, he does it anyway because that is how he was brought up. After this event he becomes hardened and more career driven. Note the similarity to his mother's death.
  •  Christmas Past and Present Visit

  • Christmas Future Visits
  • When Marley visits Scrooge, he shows Scrooge his chain. He warns Scrooge that he must fix his wrongdoings or else he will have the same fate as Marley. This frightens Scrooge, and so he willingly goes with the ghosts. It also makes him realize that he should change his ways, though he doesn't quite believe.
  • When the ghost of Christmas past visits, he is reminded of how he came to be how he is. He is reminded of both the good and the bad things that have happened in his life. He starts to realize he used to have a good life. When Present visits, he realizes he still has people in the world who care about him. He wants to go to his cousin's party now. He also realizes that people acknowledge the bad things about him, but still care for him.
  • Past
  • They're toasting me!?
  • To Mr Scrooge!
  • Present
  • To Uncle Scrooge!
  • When the ghost of Christmas future visits Scrooge, he shows him people talking about his funeral, people who had ransacked his home, his grave, and the Cratchits mourning Tiny Tim's death. Scrooge finally realizes he needs to change. From this point forward, he is a kind and generous person. He manages to prevent the things that were predicted and lives a happy life.
