  • The Green Light represents Gatsby's dream to have Daisy. It's important in this chapter because it doesn't mention the green light after that, and Gatsby wants to be with Daisy throughout the book.

  • The Valley of Ashes feels like a dark place where no one wants to live. It also represents the poverty because a lot of families were struggling to make a living. It's important to this chapter because it was the same chapter Nick met the hard working Mr. Wilson.
  • Chapter 3
  • Gatsby wanted to impress Daisy with his huge house and threw huge house parties to see if anyone knew Daisy.It's important because to this chapter because Gatsby tries to impress Daisy with all his riches
  • Green Light
  • Chapter 4
  •  Gatsby wasn't born with money so he had to earn it, and bought a big house and a nice car to be close to Daisy. There is a lot of rumors on how he got his money, and what he did in the past.  The car represents his riches, and his journey to get it

  • Gatsby took Tom's car on the way to town with Daisy, but took his own car going back to his house with Daisy driving. Tom gets in trouble when he has to admit to a lie. It's important to the chapter because a murder happens with one of the cars.

  • The clock represents the bad timing Gatsby has.Gatsby knocked over Nick's clock, because he couldn't get a hold of himself or time. Daisy was invited for tea at Nick's house, Gatsby was too nervous when she arrived.
