Mitosis happens in the nucleus. And it produces somatic calls you start with 46 chromosomes. 23 from your mother and 23 from your father. but at the end of mitosis you end up with 2.
Before mitosis can happen Interphase must happen first. Interphase is not apart of mitosis but it is when DNA starts to multiply.
The 1st stage of mitosis is Prophase. during prophase the nuclear membrane beans to dissolve and you can see the chromosomes for the first time ever.
OMG! i can see my insides!!!
The 2nd stage of mitosis Metaphase. During metaphase all the chromosomes line up in the middle along the equator.
The 3rd stage is Anaphase. All the chromosomes are pulled to the sides of the cell. And finally Telophase, the 4th stage.
