There were other's who lived there, but they forced the Aztecs out to a snake infested land
They thrived in this enviornment, by killing and eating the snakes
They found the land with an eagle perched on a cactus with a rattlesnake in its mouth. They knew this was the place they would live in. They called it Tenochtitlan in honour of their chieftain Tenoch
The lands surrounding Tenochtitlan were occupied by the three most powerful societies in the Valley the Chichimec, the Culhuacan, and the Tepanec. It was located in the middle of Lake Texacco.
With time the Aztecs started offering there services and started to work as mercenaries and slaves. They were beginning to become accepted
