  • ARTICLE I-THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH
  • We large states want representation based on population
  • The Senate will have equal representation, 2 for each state. The house of Reps is based on population.
  • NO! The small states want equal representation!
  • ARTICLE II-THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH
  • I, George Washington will serve as President and chief executive.
  • We need you to appoint ambassadors with the Senate ,
  • ARTICLE III-THE JUDICIAL BRANCH
  • I choose you nine to be the justices. Your salaries ca not be lowered, but you must serve for life.
  • Article I created a basic structure, and power of Congress. Congress can coin and regulate money,collect taxes and more.The Legislative branch proposes and passes laws, declares war, and overrides the president's veto, a two thirds vote.
  • ARTICLE IV- Full Faith and Credit
  • As the state of New Jersey ,you must accept legal documents.
  • Article II explains the election, powers, and duties of the president. The president is the head of the largest branch of the federal government. The vice president serves as president of the senate .If the president dies,resigns,or is impeached ,they become president.
  • ARTICLE V- Amending the Constitution
  • As a state you must provide police and fire protection, establish schools regulate businesses & much more
  • Article III establishes the Supreme Court and gives Congress the authority to set up higher or lower federal courts.Supreme Court and lower federal courts make up the federal judiciary.Judicial Review is practiced by the Supreme Court, its when the power to review an action of the legislative or executive branch and declare it unconstitutional.
  • FEDERALISM
  • Article IV says states must give full faith and credit to the laws and decisions of other states. Most of the time, states must accept the legal documents and actions of other state.An example, they must let a child born in another state to attend their public school.

  • Article V is the power to ratify amendments. During debates states argued the lack of delegated state powers in the constitution might leave the federal government too much power. Tenth amendment was ratified to any power not granted to national gov. then will remain to state called reserved powers
  • The Constitution talks about the powers divided up between Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branch.Federalism is a principle established by the constitution. Federalism is divided powers between nation and states.
  • As a Federal country you states will have your own powers and as a nation my cabinet and I have powers.
