Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • My father is Zeus!
  • My father is Apollo!
  • Rising Action
  • I sit on Olympus with him, and he teaches me things and gives me presents.
  • He said I was getting to be such a good charioteer that next time he would let me drive the sun chariot alone.
  • Rising Action
  • I wish to drive the sun across the sky. All by myself. From dawn till night.
  • Two boys were racing along the edge of a cliff above a deep blue sea. Phaethon won, which made Epaphus very angry. He began to boast about his father, Zeus.
  • Climax
  • Down! Down! Down!
  • Phaethon began to get very jealous of the relationship Epaphus had with his father, Zeus. He wasn't about to tell him that he never met Apollo. So he lied to him and told him that he will be able to drive the chariot of the sun across the sky.
  • Falling Action
  • After a long journey, which almost cost him his life, Phaethon made it to the eastern palace with the help of Apollo's sky -blue hawks.
  • Resolution
  • Well, that is what the oracle predicted for the earth, but I did not know it would be so soon.
  • When Phaethon saw his village below, he made the huge horses go down. Everyone and everything burned. The horses were furious and reared up. They went too high and the earth froze. When they could no longer feel the reins, they went down again and the ice melted causing a flood.
  • In Olympus, Zeus looked at the earth. He saw the sun chariot that was driven by a stranger. He saw the chaos that the horses were causing. He hurled a thunderbolt at the driver.
  • Phaethon's sisters could not stop crying. Apollo could not comfort them so he changed them into poplar trees. You can still see traces of Phaethon's ride. The ends of the earth have icecaps and volcanoes rumble and erupt with lava.
