  • carbon is everywhere, and when in the atmosphere it combines with oxygen to make carbon dioxide
  • Carbon dioxide is absorbed into plants when they go through photosynthesis, and when animals get hungry they eat the plant and take in the carbon dioxide
  • when animals breathe they exhale carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere
  • However, when animals die they eventually decay and get turned into fossil fuels like oil
  • When fossil fuels are ignited, they combust and start to burn releasing carbon dioxide back into the air
