  • Quince, snug, Bottom, Flute, Snout and Starveling meet in the woods to rehearse. Titania sleeps on, unseen.
  • Pat, pat.And here's a marvellous convenient place for our rehearsal.
  • they discuss the best way to put on the play
  • some man or other must present wall- and let him have some plaster, or some loam, or some rough-cast about him.
  • What hempen home-spuns have we swaggering here, So, near the cradle of the fairy queen?
  • Puck watches the rehearsal and while bottom is 'off stage' gives him an ass's head.
  • But hark, a voice! stay thou but here awhile, and by and by I will to thee appear.
  • Bottom returns, unaware of his changed appearance , the others are terrified and run off.
  • O monstrous! O strange! We are haunted!
  • Convinced that his friends are playing a trick to try to frighten him, bottom sings to show that he isn't scared.
  • What angel wakes me from my flowery bed
  • Titania refuses to let Bootom leave the wood, and calls her fairies-peaseblossom, cobweb moth and mustardseed-to be his attendants.
  • Out of this wood do not desire to go: Thou shalt remain here, whether thou willt or no.
