WE WANT YOUR IRRIGATION WATER!!!
There were many fights for irrigation water and farmland in the city-states around Mesopotamia
WE WANT YOUR FARMLAND!!!!
Mesopotamian cities were very over populated and as a result their water was contaminated which got lots of people sick. Many people left because of theses issues.
The irrigation techniques were what made farming possible in Mesopotamia, but later was what destroyed it
What's happening to our crops?
When the irrigation water would sit on the land it would leave behind a mineral salt that was highly poisonous to the plants
Something is eroding the soil!
The rivers were higher than the surrounding land so water would flow into the fields. It was difficult for farmers to drain the water
Oh No! The crops!
After a while, the soil couldn't support the plants. Many people couldn't farm anymore because the irrigation ruined the soil. Therefore, many people left to find a better place to farm. This was one of the causes for why Mesopotamia collapsed.
