  • Boys and girls, as you come in please quietly take your seat and begin to work on the warm-up problem independently.

  • Thank you for staying focused and working quietly. Let's begin by having two students show us how to solve the warm-up on the chalkboard.
  • As recess ends, the teacher allows only a few students in the classroom at a time, as not to cause more excitement. At the door, he clearly explains his expectations and the directions for the warm-up activity.
  • (Math Lesson Begins)
  • Now that we're warmed up, let's begin our Math lesson on adding multi-digit numbers!
  • As students quietly find their seats, music plays in the background allowing them to hear and recognize how much time they have left to complete their warm-up.
  • After the music ends, the teacher positively reinforces good behavior by acknowledging students who work quietly and remained focused. He then has students demonstrate their learning by solving the warm-up problem on the board.
  • Now that students have warmed-up and had a chance to settle down, the new Math lesson can begin.
