General Nathan Bedford Forrest was giving a speech to his fellow citizens, when his wife Mary Ann struck up a conversation with Larkin Winters.
Mary Ann, your beauty shines as bright as the stars.
Oh, Larkin, you cannot say these things. My husband will hear you!
One week later, Larkin went to visit Mary Ann at her country home.
Larkin, we shouldn't be doing this!
I cannot do this life without you Mary Ann. I will not live this life without you.
WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THIS?!
You'll hang for this Winters! I promise you that.
I am begging you not to do this! You don't know what she means to me!
It was on that day, April 12th, 1961, the start of the war , that Mary Ann watched the love of her life hang.
