Duke Eudes, the man beseeching the Moors to spare him, banned them in 721 from his territory. However, they returned and Eudes wasn't able to stop them.
Abd er Rahman traversed the Pyrenees to locate Charles Martel, the mayor of the palace, and to conquer his territory.
During battle, the Franks spread the rumor that they had stole their booty that the Moors picked up from Bordeaux. This caused all the Moors to retreat back to the camps.
When the Moors retreated, Abd er Rahman was surrounded by Frankish soldiers and was stabbed.
After this victory, Charles Martel was known as "the Hammer"

To celebrate this victory, Frankish bakers created bread in the shape of a crescent moon which is an important shape in Islamic religion. Even today, many French this bread which is known as a croissant.
