  • What are we going to do? Our country is so far behind!

  • This isn't right we need to do something!
  • Russia and its part in WWI and its revolution.
  • Bolshevik Revolution/October Revolution, 1917
  • I'm here and I'm ready to take power!
  • When WWI started, Russia was very behind. Instead of having focus on industrialization, it was on militarism causing them to be years behind other countries. Within the first year, Russia had lost millions of soldiers.
  • Russian Civil War 1918-1919
  • The Whites are better!
  • The Reds are better!
  • Women working in the factories were upset about food shortages. Because of this they started to protest about not having it fair. Through this, many other factory workers began to join them and a new form of government, the Provisional Government, was set up to try and stop them.
  • Stalin’s reforms, 1928
  • Now that I'm in power things are going to change!
  • After returning to Russia after many years, Lenin decided that he wanted to overthrow the Provisional Government. Though this the country started to divide but eventually Lenin got what he wanted when the Provisional Government failed and was destroyed.
  • The country broke out into a big civil war when the Reds or Communists went against the Whites. The Whites wanted to bring Russia back to a monarchy but the Reds refused. In the end, the Reds won giving power back to Lenin.
  • After Lenin died, Joseph Stalin comes into power, but he had a different idea about Russia. He decided to move towards Totalitarianism which had rapid industrialization, state owned farms to replace private ones, and purges to everyone who threatened his power.
