Storyboard Text

  • In the north with states such as Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New York we believe slaves should not be counted towards the population, and we believe slavery should be illegal.
  • SLAVERY
  • Why would you want to count slaves if they don't count as people?
  • SLAVERY
  • Down here in Virginia, as well as other more southern states, we believe the that slaves should definitely be counted for the calculation of the population and since we all own many slaves we believe slavery should be legal.
  • We believe that since the slaves live in the states, they should be counted towards the population.
  • I can live with that.
  • Three-fifths?! A FRACTION?! Whole people counted as a FRACTION!
  • My decision... THREE-FIFTHS OF SLAVES PER STATE WILL BE COUNTED INTO THE POPULATION! ALSO, SLAVERY IS LEGAL! COURT DISMISSED.
  • We have the responsibility of an entire country and we need to move along and ratify the Constitution to save America. A bill of rights is not priority and can be created at a later date.
  • Federalist
  • Anti-Federalist
  • We worry that the Constitution, without a stated list of rights for the people, will fail like the Articles of Confederation and leave our new nation in ruins.
  • Considering the needs of all states would be complicated but a compromise needed to be made. The Constitution was ratified and, as promised, a Bill of Rights was made. THE END
  • OUTCOME
