Storyboard Description

Act 1, Scene 3 (page 1)

Storyboard Text

  • My belongings have already been taken care of and I am ready to go. Goodbye. Also, Ophelia, as long as wind blows and ships sail, please keep in touch--write.
  • You do not think that I will?
  • As for Hamlet, just know that it is temporary. It is a phase that teenagers go through, and it will not last. Right know he's sweet; but his affection will fade after a minute.
  • Only a minute?
  • Think of it that way. As a boy grows into a man, his responsibilities grow too. He may have good intentions, but that does not mean that you do not have to be very careful. Hamlet belongs to the royal family--his parents must make his decisions for him. He cannot make personal choices; his choices have to agree with what the country wants.
  •
  • So if he says that he loves you, just know that all of Denmark has to love you too. It would be unfortunate if you were taken into his greedy hands and then let go of. Do not let yourself surrender to his lust. Exposing yourself to the moon is risky enough--you should not expose yourself to him.
  • Even if you are a good girl, you can get a bad reputation. Worms ruin flowers before they blossom. Baby blooms are most susceptible to disease, so be careful. Fear will keep you safe. Young people often lose control all on their own.
  • Oh, don't worry. I won't.
  • I will keep what you have said in mind, Laertes. But do not tell me to be a wholesome young girl as you walk down a path full of sin.
  • I have been here too long. Here comes father. I am so lucky to have him say goodbye not once, but twice.
  • You're still here? Shame on you--get on board! The wind is taking your ship's sail and they are all waiting for you!
  • Try to remember a few rules of life: do not say what you're thinking, and do not act on what you are thinking too quickly. Be friendly, but do not overdue it. If you find trustworthy people, do not let them go.
