  • Valley Forge took place in the Winter of 1777-1778. Friedrich von Steuben (an army officer) comes in and teaches basic military skills. More than one fifth died from disease and malnutrition. The American Troops were not prepared food-wise or clothing-wise.
  • The Declaration of Independence is a statement of the American colonies declaring their independence of Great Britain. This took place during the Second Continental Congress.  A committee of 5 drafted it and was then voted on by Congress.
  • During the First Continental Congress, colonists continue to boycott. Colonial militias must be ready to fight at any given minute. There was a list of rights written and given to the king to agree.
