Friendship: Friendship is supposed to be a mutual thing, you should help and try to teach your friend good from wrong, but sometimes it's not your fault if they can't learn good from wrong, it's out of your control.

American Dream: Everyone in the great depression had an American dream. Keep working to get enough money to get out of poverty and get what you need! Food, land, etc.
Guess we're stuck here...

Powerlessness: It's hard to get what you want and need without money also lack of power. You have to basically grind your teeth and do what you're told and what's best and convenient for everyone with power and control.
Loneliness: When you're lonely you often seek attention or you could totally isolate yourself depending on who you are as a person. Like Curley's wife and Crooks!
Broken Plans: Everyone is gonna have some broken plans that couldn't have been avoided. You shouldn't plan on everything too much and get your hopes up especially if it's something that's bound to go wrong.
