  • Conflict
  • "'Hubie, it's only March thirty-first,' she says."
  • This is Hubie, he is the main character. In the beginning of the story he is a big prankster and cannot wait for April Fools' Day.

  • "Coah Kong is about to blow his whistle but someone has filled it with water."
  • Hubie's mom tells him it's April Fool's' Day and he goes into school playing pranks on everyone. He then gets sent to the principal's office where she tells him it's only March 31st and he realizes he gave everyone a reason to prank him the next day.
  • Theme
  • "Be sure that if you do play a prank on April Fools' Day, it doesn't harm anyone or anyone's property."
  • Hubie realizes that the person who was pranking him the most on April Fools' was the person he never expected to prank him; which was his mom. His mom shows him to not take pranking so seriously and to just have fun with it and to make sure his jokes are fun for both parties involved.
  • At the end of the book, Eric decides to prank everyone by loosening the tops of all of the salt shakers in the cafeteria. He changes from being innocent in the beginning; to mischievous at the end of the novel.
  • The theme of this book is that some pranks are funny, and others are mean and destructive. We need to know where that line is and make sure we don't cross it.
