  • Aegeus returned to Athens but ,before he left he put his sword under a great rock for Theseus to have when he was strong enough to lift the rock.  When Theseus got the sword he had to go meet his father in Athens.
  • At the age of sixteen Theseus was able to lift the rock and he got the sword.  Afterwards he left to meet his father in Athens.
  • Theseus took the dangerous pathway to get to Athens, which was through narrow mountain passes, rough ways and country infested with robbers and wild beast.
  • The first villan Theseus encountered was Periphetes son of "vulcan" god of fire .  He carried a huge iron club which he would use to bash the brains out of the travellers who tried to pass.
  • The second villan he encountered was Sinis also known as "The Pine Bender".  He would tie travellers limbs at the end of two pine trees and when he let them go it ripped the travellers in half.
